Weds 12th Oct Rain, Mud and Steam

Shame the weather hasn’t improved so headed for the museum. But on the way we spotted this.
A bit cold for me but there seemed plenty of takers!
The museum is the former hot baths/sanatorium and is a beautiful Victorian building set in a lovely park.
You could just imagine the wealthy Victorians strolling around the grounds.

The rain was holding off so it was off to the mud pools. At Te Puia they have also set up a Maori village but in a more formal setting. They have a carving school where they are teaching old skills to keep on their traditions. So this goes from this

To this
It had Phil thinking!
There was also a  Maori show very similar to the one last night and a Haka and guess who got up? Yep Philly I’ve got it on video so once I’ve worked out how to upload (not sure if I’ve got all the leads) you can watch!!!! It’s a Youtube special.
On to the mud pools
Steam rises from the ground and is really eerie
But when it spurts from the rocks it’s really powerful

It’s so thick we could have got lost!
By now we were wet and cold and hungry so we headed to a local Irish pub for some comfort food.

Full and happy we returned to our motel.
