Sat 22nd Oct Lazy Saturday

After almost 7 weeks away our energy levels are beginning to drop so today we decided to take it easy and just have a mooch around the town. There is so much going on. It’s not as busy as we thought in view of tomorrow’s game. We checked out a couple of pubs near to the waterfront, very different styles. The first one had a quirky feel, no you’re not standing on the ceiling, but the standard lamps are!

Look at the old tvs
The second one was a very traditional pub with lots of little booths.

It’s amazing what people do with left over beer cans

The architecture in Auckland ranges from skyscrapers to traditional to indoor art

And how about this for a flag!
Phil needs to check this out
As we approached the sky tower we spotted one of the official RWC coaches parked outside. It was the Wales team preparing to leave for the airport. They were very obliging and poised for photos with the waiting fans.

James Hook
I wish the England team had been more accessible my autograph book is empty!
Plenty of street entertainment to keep us amused. This spooky group certainly caught people’s attention.

Couldn’t begin to tell you what was going on here but they seemed to be enjoying themselves!

And finally some youngsters just setting out
By the way we had unexpected house guests when we got back to our apartment. In the foyer they were setting up drinks tables. We said they shouldn’t have bothered but it wasn’t for us but the All Blacks were coming to use the Penthouse to get some R&R.! Despite popping out several times with my camera I didn’t see them.
