Weds 14th Sept Staying local

Today we needed to sort out our hotmail. We’ve being having problems opening up our emails. So after a couple of false starts and a piece of lemon tea loaf we finally got sorted at the local library.

It’s amazing how dependent we’ve become on technology. It was a glorious sunny morning but it soon clouded over and there was a bitter southerly wind so we decided to take a trip out along the harbour to Careys Bay for a spot of lunch. Another excellent recommendation from my brother, who really knows his food. The Careys Bay Hotel has been lovingly restored and stands on a beautiful corner of the bay.
It was time to taste the seafood that is so popular and we started with the oysters.

They were unbelievably tasty so fresh so soft….. gorgeous.
Then the Blue Cod with a leek and cream sauce delicious. I left those potatoes as I’m watching the carbs!!!!!!
Feeling full we drove to the end of the road and walked along the breakwater. The sun was just starting to break through and the views were spectacular.
We spotted this fellow basking on the rocks (courtesy of some local kids) and there was another sea lion swimming about in the bay.
It was lovely just taking in the sights so quiet and unspoilt. Across the bay up on the hill was the Albatross centre that we visited the other day.
The driving is great, the roads are empty and no one seems in a rush so Phil is taking his time tootling along at 30 mile an hour so he can see some of the sights, so relaxing.
There is so much to do in and around Dunedin and we haven’t been disappointed that they had to move the games from Christchurch.

So glad to see that you’re enjoying the blog.  Don’t know what we’re up to tomorrow so pop in and check it out.
