Friday 16th Sept A spot of exercise.....

Today we decided that we needed to get some exercise so we headed for "The steepest street in the World". After all we have conquered the Big Buddha in Hong Kong.

Here it is. It's not that long but boy is it steep. 1 in 2.86 in parts. It had me blowing a bit but the view was worth it. The sun is out but still cold. We got the certificate so we don't have to do it again.

We drove down to the edge of the Catlins , which is an area of outstanding beauty. The drive was relaxing as hardly anyone on the road. We stopped for lunch, a nice bowl of homemade soup, just the thing on a cold blustery day. Sorry folks no cake to day after all we have to watch the carbs. We still have 6 weeks to go and clothes need to fit. I'm glad my sister-in-law has got me a BIG dress I hope it's 2XL!

These are some of the views we saw on our journey. We back tracked a bit to visit the beach. It was gorgeous, no crowds we were the only people there. The beach was so clean, no litter, plastic bags or cans just seaweed and shells.

A rainbow even appeared right on cue!

Next stop was in land to a forest waterfall , a short walk took us to this breathtaking sight. You could just imagine the little kiwi birds scuttling about in the dense woodland floor.

Back home we had our first taste of New Zealand green lipped mussells....delicious.

We spent the evening at our home from home, Alhambra Rugby club (more about that later) where we watched an impressive All Blacks side well and truely beat The Japs.

Tomorrow we're off to the local Farmer's market in downtown Dunedin before we get ready for a weekend of Rugby.
