Mon 19th Sept Journey to Queenstown

As we left Dunedin it began to rain but the drive to Queenstown took our mind off the weather. Dramatic scenery, hardly any traffic lovely, could get used to this.

Lawrence was our chosen spot for coffee and cake. Today’s choice was the homemade lemon curd cake and chocolate caramel . It’s at the top of the cake list for the moment. Lawrence is a lovely town/village which they have restored the. It once house 11,000 people at the height of the gold rush here in Central Otago, but now it’s a haven for tourists in search of cake.
This shows how laid back Kiwis are.
I think I might post all the quirky signs and sayings I’ve come across later.

At one point we stopped to take some photos of the change in weather. On one side of the road we had bright blue skies and the other snow topped hills and mist, amazing.
Queenstown is a central tourist spot, lots of accommodation, pubs restaurants etc. We’re hoping to do the jet boat along Shotover river canyons. Also on the way in we spotted lots of wineries so we we’ve put that on the list too. Before we leave we have a flight over to Milford Sound booked. So lots to do here and of course we have to find those dwarfs. See you tomorrow.
